Republicans Write Back....

A few Republicans responded to my open letter. Here are excerpts from two of my favorites:

1)
obnoxious and bitter email.

basically your elite rhetoric sums up why your side lost. You have the simplistic view of the world.

Bush is 100 times better than Kerry in communicating and envisioning big picture ideas. Kerry is a pretzel logic policy wonk who is obsessed with political correctness and is part of a condescending elite mindset that has a very narrow view of most of America.

2)
{WL}, what happened to you? I used to respect your opinions, although completely different than mine, as a Democrat. Your "savor the victory" paragraph…sound [sic] like the rantings of an extreme left-wing, Michael Moore disciple.

The fact of the matter is that when this election is reviewed in the coming days and months it will be viewed as a rout in Bush's favor. Americans (outside of NYC, Boston, LA & San Fran) overwhelmingly support our President. Get Mt. Rushmore ready, my friend. In 4 years when there have been 50 million freed muslims in the Middle East, 8 years of economic growth after inheriting a recession from the impeached & disbarred Clinton, revamped tax code & Social Security that puts peoples' future in their own hands and a safer USA, you'll be thankful that you lived through this part of history ... During the tenure of the man that got more votes than Reagan, FDR, Teddy, Abe, Jefferson, Washington and every other president EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Republicans better when they were harmless.

An Open Letter to Republicans

To All Happy Republicans-

Congratulations on Governor Bush finally getting elected.

Savor the victory. It may well make America a second-tier world power, by the time Bush is done increasing the deficit, ridding the world of clean air, blowing off other world leaders, and doing favors for his businessman friends while screwing up with Iran and North Korea because he insisted on settling a personal grudge with Saddam Hussein.

I'm not sure why this country deserves such poor leadership.

Sour grapes? Maybe. I am stunned that Bush's simplistic black-and-white view of the world has impressed so many people. The world is not black and white at all. While Kerry admittedly might be too deliberate with his actions and decision-making, at least he acknowledges that there are other viewpoints besides his own. That is my single biggest problem with Bush...he does not acknowledge other viewpoints. He came into office thinking he had a conservative mandate when he did not, and even now will not admit that other people might actually be right sometimes. If you are non-Christian, black, middle-class or lower, living in an urban area, not affiliated with Big Business, or otherwise not of similar background to him, he could not care less about you and your opinion means nothing. Unless, of course, it's an election year.

I had a bet that Bush would be a one-termer like his Daddy. I lost. Unfortunately, so did the country.
